On 31st March we organised Festival of the trees at our school. It was dedicated to our Comenius project and Spring day 2005. Our main topic was a TREE. Pupils were organised into groups with different workshops.

Pupils in Portugal joined first the activity of planting trees after a big fire last year destroyed a lot of the forets.

But then they also organised a Spring day acitivty together with all our Comenius partners' schools too.

Spring Day in Spain was a enjoyable event.
In the classes students did different activities related to trees and at noon they all went to the school yard to plant the trees.

They finished the day activities with their dance called "Sardana" and they put all the materials made in the activities on some trees in the Comenius Corner.

At 13 am they joined the chat organised by Slovenian school. Some of the pupils chartted with their peers, the other ones followed it on a big screen.
 

Chat - Spain

Due to the Easter holidays partner school from Rome had their day on March 21st 2005. Scuola Elementare Pietro Maffi - ROMA performed an interesting program for our Comenius Spring day 2005.
At 9.00 they started in the playground singing the Song “L’uomo che piantava gli alberi” and danced The tree Dance (Catalan dance).
From 10.00- 12.30  pupils worked in workshops. Children were divided into the following workshops

1. Lets’ make a puzzle of two illustrations from “The man who planted trees” (the two illustrations will be divided into 9 pieces each and one child will have to redraw one part by using any technique

2. Let’s build a tree with recycled materials

3. Children will realize trees form the four seasoned by using clay

4. Tree sculptures by recycled materials

5. The Spring plates

6. Lets’ make some tulips

7. A giant 4 seasons puzzle

At 12.30 they gathered again in the playground and planted the olive tree and danced again around it.

The Carnival was dedicated to the topic from the book - The man who planted trees. This is the five parts the Swedish school divided their carnival into:

1 A young lonely shepherd walking in the mountains. No people in sight, no water only the hard wind......
2 He finds the shepherd with 30 sheep, gets some water and spends the night with the shepherd
3 The shepherd tells about his tree planting. Why is he doing it? He tells about his lost of his child and wife.
4 Two wars - and the shepherd is still planting his trees
5 Happiness. Everything is different, the air the ground the people. Hope is there and so is happiness.

the carnival and the teachers' meeting

This is the theme for our carnival. we devided the row in these five sections. In three stops we told the story of "The man who planted trees". There were lots of people watching us. It was a true success!
