Klavdij Tutta was born in 1958
in Postojna. He finished his studies at The Academy of Fine arts
in Ljubljana, where he graduated in the class of Prof. Bogdan
Borcic. He is working as a painter and as a graphic. In his art he
also uses different objects. Since 1981 he has been a member of
ZDSLU. At the time he lives and works in Nova Gorica and Kranj as
an independent artist. In 1993 he established an art workshop "Slovenia
open for art" in Sinji Vrh. He collaborated at many independent
and group exhibitions all over the world and he received numerous
prizes for his outstanding work.
The painting of Klavdij
Tutta is eruptive, emotional and unexpected. He usually chooses a
motive or an element that he emphasises and this motive becomes a
leading part in his cycle.
|

In his
last period the two main motives are a monk and a bull. Then he
varies the motive and combines it with different signs and
ornaments.
Even when the painting has not yet been finished, in his mind, the
painter already sees another one, different, either a continuation,
a pendant or a surmount of a previous one. |
With his painting he returns
to his Mediterranean roots. Typical for his painting is untameable
vitalism, emphasising the will to live and his victory over death.
There is nothing final in this world; everything just changes and
renews. Also in Tutta's painting there is no tendency for the
absolute, for the "ultimate painting". Everything is happening on
the surface and we can not see what is beyond, dark and mysterious.
That stays invisible to the eyes, although we can talk about it.
That admittance is especially visible in Tutta's last cycle, which
he named "Fairy tale landscapes" and "Istrian landscapes". We can
only anticipate the next turning point.
He exhibited at
Jozef Stefan Institute
from November 17th 1997 to January 9th 1998.
