One of them (for the
first year,
second activity) will be as
follows:
1. The teacher chooses
the artwork.
2. Students are
divided into two groups and one of them
is presented with
the chosen image.
3. Students write
about the image. What they see in the image etc. We have to
develop the observation skill and advice students how to describe
pictures, classes…. We have to avoid talking about the chosen art
work not to influence their writing. The texts should be signed
by names of the students.
4.
The texts of the images are given to the second
group which could be at the same school or are given to the
partner school – but of course translated into English and then
into the partner's mother tongue (not very useful for younger
kids).
5.
From these texts students
from the other
country / group are asked to make a piece of art
showing what the text says. The may use watercolour, sculpture,
collage, ICT, digital images - what ever they want. They make a
digital image of their work later.
6.
When the art works are ready they are sent to
the coordinator. All artworks should have a name of the student in
the right bottom corner.
7. Then
those who wrote the original text (1) can have a look at
their text and the new art works
(done by other students from their text) and see if they are
satisfied with the text and outcomes. If
not - discuss in what way
they can improve their text?

We
use different methodology to carry out
the project activities.
Examples of
lesson plans

Year 1,
2003/2004
|
8.
Images are named by the student's first name, age and original
artist's name and the author of the text
(kathy9_botticelli_tina.jpeg/.gif).
9.
Improvements are done by writing another text. You can use
cut and paste commands to ease writing.
We
will also use different ICT tools
so there will
be different hands-on activities for teachers and students to
learn how to use them properly also via distance learning.
10. Art
Gallery will be collected and exhibited in the project Web Site.
12.
The purpose of this is
to make pupils aware
how
important the
right
words are when describing certain paintings.
We don’t expect
teachers telling the students about perspective - colours - near
and far away - and so on. We want the pupils themselves
to be aware of
the mentioned.
The cross curricula use:
We can talk about the three arts:
1.
mother tongue –
writing a song that goes along the chosen painting
- writing a story about the theme of the artwork
2.
Music –
instruments and music from the time when the painting was created
3.
Art - the
artwork and the author.
4.
There would be also a strong connection with
science that is geography – describing the town /
the city, the country…
