Andreus and N.º6 of Leiria
BasicSchools

There are 2
basic schools:
- Andreus Basic School
- N. º 6 of Leiria Basic School (number six because there
are several basic schools in town).
These two
primary schools belong to a group of schools (Agrupamento de
Escolas) consisting of 16 schools and 8 kindergartens.

Until
last school year, the administrative centre was located at n. º 6
of Leiria Basic School; now the administrative centre is at José
Saraiva School. This group of schools have a president, the person
who generates all the schools. The biggest schools have a
coordinator that it is responsible for the pedagogical and
administrative area.
Andreus
Basic School is located in a small village with 373
inhabitants only, belonging to the Barreira lower administrative
unit. The school has 2 classrooms and only 21 pupils attend it (aged
from 6 to 10).

We want to transform our schools into places where learning could
be an interesting job with several different activities. |
LEIRIA

Leiria is
situated in the centre of Portugal, with a growing population of
more than 10 000 people and it is firmly developing its industry
and commerce.
From the many
monuments that testify to the historical past of the town, the
castle, founded by the first King of Portugal, is the symbol of
the city. Leiria is well known for its mould industry, for the
famous glass works from Marinha Grande and the crystal craft from
Alcobaça.
Fatima
The region is
also influenced by the proximity of Fátima Sanctuary, where it is
believed to have happened, on the beginning of the twentieth
century, the famous apparitions of the Holy Lady to three little
shepherds.
Situated in
the Atlantic coastal zone of Portugal, the region is heavily
demanded by many tourists, that look for enjoyment in its
beautiful white sand beaches.
