Charles University is the oldest university in the Czech Republic and Central Europe - being founded in 1348 by Charles IV, King of Bohemia and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. At the moment there are 16 faculties at the university. The Faculty of Education was opened in 1946.

  • Expertise: teacher ICT education, Web based services for teachers, distance education, national coordination of international ICT-based educational networks (the European Schools Project), research in field of ICT-integration in education, participation in preparation of the official Czech Action Plan for Implementation of ICT in Education.
  • Experience in cooperation: Extensive, in many networks, and cooperations between academic institutions, both national and international.
  • Experience in Socrates projects: participation in many different projects during last 10 years, especially in Tempus, Minerva, Leonardo, Comenius. Particularly Comenius 2 (former 3.2) project TRANSPRO is dedicated to teacher preparation for Comenius 1 projects. Good relationship with National Socrates Agency and Czech Ministry of Education. Involvement in evaluation of Czech Comenius 1 proposals.
  • Specific tasks: national coordination of SITES M2 international research. Seven case studies published on the official Czech SITES M2 site - http://it.pedf.cuni.cz/sitesm2/. Coordination of the next SITES M3 module has been approved in coordination with the Czech Institute for Informatics in Education. Cooperation with Czech Pedagogical Centres in coordination with Czech Ministry of Education in teacher in-service training.

Borivoj Brdicka
Ing. Brdicka has been working in the field of educational technology since 1983 when he assisted with the supply of the first personal computers to Czech primary and secondary schools. From that time he has trained teachers, designed educational programs, done the research, and tried to persuade the Czech public, government, and the management of his faculty about the importance of this work.
 
Ing. Brdicka serves as a national coordinator of international organization European School Project, which works in the field of preparation of international project of schools. He is a member of Czech National Socrates Comenius commission, an organizer of Comenius 2 project PROMISE. He serves as National coordinator of SITES M2 international research.
